Brand Graphic Web

Yay! You've received a Christmas Card from us...

As part of your Christmas card, you’ll find everything you need to create your very own mounted reindeer head (although some glue won’t go amiss if you want to make your reindeer a bit more sturdy!) to adorn your desk, wall or Christmas tree. This card is all about taking a bit of time out of your day to enjoy a cuppa, take your mind away from Christmas madness and do something creative with your hands.

At designdough, we love our workspace and our industry, but to keep our creative brains in tip-top shape we understand that it’s important to step away from our desks from time to time and get messy with pens, paint and collage…hey, we’ve even made our own playdough! Graphic design and branding aren’t just about moving pixels around a screen, although this does take up a big chunk of our time, it’s also about communicating personality and emotion, and there is nothing better than working out the best ways of doing this whilst crafting something with your hands. We hope that with this little pack, you enjoy the creative process of taking some time out and putting it together, and enjoy it as much we did putting it together for you.

How to assemble your ‘design-doe’

  1. Carefully pop the pieces out of the laser-cut card. Make sure you keep an eye on the numbering of each of the pieces, as this will help you with the order of assembly.

  2. Take the two shield pieces and, making sure the holes are aligned, apply a small amount of glue to the back of the smaller shield (D) and glue it to the larger shield (E). This provides a sturdy base for the neck of the deer.

  3. Slot the neck and head pieces (A, B & C) into the shields, and then slot the numbered pieces (1-10) into the slots of the neck, starting with piece (10) at the back of the neck, leading to piece (1) at the nose.

  4. If you’d like to reinforce the deer a little more, then apply some small dots of glue to where the card pieces join.

  5. Finally, add a small amount of glue or tape to the tabs on the back of the completed deer head and place them into the holes found in the shield piece. Fold the tabs over and secure with tape or glue.

  6. This is where the fun part comes in – decorate your deer however you wish with paint, pen, glitter or collage. Make sure your deer represents YOU!

  7. Leave the glue and your decorations to dry for 20-30 minutes, attach some twine, and proudly hang your design-doe from your Christmas tree, or wherever you wish!
