February…FEBRUARY!! It has been a CORKER! There have been brand and web workshops a’plenty and lots of lovely new clients to get to know. We’ve been hopping from industry to industry, dealing with online pharmacies, property development, crispy biscuits, subscription boxes and interior design to name a few – what can we say, we like to keep things diverse!
In some devastating news, Shrove Tuesday was a bit of a bust – we chose shop bought pancakes over freshly made, and honestly, the regret was palpable.
Valentine’s day came and went with the usual dose of designdough cynicism…so instead of reveling in hearts and slushiness, we declared our adoration for our FIRST LOVE, Brand (not Russell) by throwing some brown paper up on our walls and doodle-painting all over them. Y’know, as you do…
Rhys and Alex visited Brewdog when Puckin’ Poutine did a kitchen takeover, strictly for market research y’see (and a game of Klask…), and were thoroughly pleased with what they received. FYI, if you haven’t tried deep fried avocado wedges with sriracha mayo before, we suggest you GET ON THAT STRAIGHT AWAY!
We also visited our good friends over at Spectrum Printers to take a look at their brand new Heidelberg printer – this may not sound very interesting and we’d forgive you for visualising a standard inkjet when hearing ‘printer’ but trust us, this thing is the Rolls Royce of the printing industry and weighs as much as a Boeing 747. Never seen inside a professional printers before? (we’re looking at you under-grads!) Well fear not, we’ll be dropping a blog in the next few weeks on just how bloody impressive this thing is (and don’t even get us started on the print quality) so keep your eyes peeled. And yes, don’t worry, there will be plenty of GIFs of this behemoth at work so you can enjoy some soothing ‘How It’s Made’ loveliness.
gofod3 is fast approaching, and we’re super proud to say that we’re sponsoring and will be exhibiting at this year’s event. We’ve got some gorgeous giveaways (the team is working on them as I type!) and Joe will be running four seminars on topics such as design within the Third Sector and brand consistency, so we’re really excited to be involved. If you didn’t know, we designed the brand, website, print and signage for gofod3 last year (you can view the portfolio here) and we’ve watched proudly as its gone from strength to strength. The WCVA (Welsh Council for Voluntary Action) is a fantastic organisation and one that really has its finger on the pulse of the Third sector along with the wants and needs of its members. gofod3 will run from 8.15am – 5pm on Thursday 8th March at Cardiff City Stadium, and you can follow its progress on Twitter with #gofod3.
