So we enter July with sunburnt faces and a serious case of adoration for our start-up community here in Wales…
Following launching Brand Labs 2018 on 1st June, to closing applications on 13th July, we’ve received some absolutely amazing entries, all of whom are worthy of winning a bespoke brand and web package. Yet, we’ve now given ourselves the unenviable task of choosing JUST ONE to become our new winner, who will join Odddot as our clients and let’s be honest, new BFFs, over the next few months. This is never an easy task for us, as we see so much value in every entry that we receive, but picking the winner really does come down to sensing how well we can really work together, how well we can communicate and ultimately, how much value we can give to this start-up, so fresh on their journey to success.
As you may already know, we were sad to see our Rhys leaving us for pastures new BUT, we are so lucky that the lovely Sam wowed us with his enthusiasm and drive to keep our web projects fresh and exciting. We know that together with James N, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with, and they’ve already got a number of projects underway, which we can’t wait to show you in the coming months.
To mark Rhys’ departure, the team ventured to Bingo Lingo @ DEPOT for some ball-fuelled debauchery, and all managed to leave covered in felt-tip pen and KP Choc Dips. You can find the photographic evidence below.
It’s been a highly social month for the team, and we were all delighted to get tickets to Blue Stag’s pilot ‘It Will Glow’ event, again in Depot. The turnout was amazing and we were so happy to see many a familiar face in the crowd. The speakers included the amazing, Anna Ginsburg, who talked about her illustrative and digital explorations of gender inequality through the medium of illustrated video and documentary, and finally capped off the night with the ever-inspiring Mr Bingo; the renegade artist and illustrator who made sending hate mail his business. It was brilliant to see such established speakers at a new Cardiff event, and we can’t congratulate the Blue Stag team enough on their vision and execution of such a vibrant and enjoyable night. We’re eagerly awaiting the next one.
In other news, we were so chuffed to see our client of 2 years, IMIUM, finally emerge and launch their rebrand. Prior to meeting with us, IMIUM were called Office Image, and were only too aware that in order to keep ahead of their industry, their brand needed to match their vision, so we set to work on getting their visual identity and strategy up to date and something they could truly be proud of. This has been an amazing project to work on, and we’re so proud to see the new IMIUM logo emblazoned on the new Cardiff Blues kits!
Before we go, our new edition of The Journal has been quietly making its rounds around Cardiff, so keep an eye out for one of those very soon! A full list of stockists will be available this week – so stay tuned.
